Mercedes, a well-known name in formula one race is back with its all-new black F1 car, Mercedes-AMG F11 W11 EQ Performance. This new beauty is in news not because of its high-performance engine but because of its color.
Ever since the last Grand Prix, the Mercedes was working on the new car for the race in 2020 and 2021. And just a few days ago they released a video on YouTube explaining this new beauty in their garage ready to set fire on the tracks. This year is very special for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team as they are going to complete their 10 years on the F1 tracks. In 2010, the new team competed in Bahrain Grand Prix since then they have competed in almost 200 races with 93 victories. They have changed over 10000 components in this new car to make it one of the fastest cars in the history of Formula-1 race.
Well, this particular design was also challenging for the team because apart from minor changes they had also undergone some major changes to meet with the regulations that are going to be imposed on F1 cars from 2021. From the very dawn of the 2021 Grand Prix, the cars will have to be fit in the technical as well as financial regulations.
Why it has gone All Black ?
Formula1 has launched a new initiative #WeRaceAsOne to raise awareness of inequality & racism around the world. To support the cause the Mercedes came up with All Black Livery as a way to support the #BlackLivesMatter campaign. Mercedes F1 team also admitted that their workforce comprises of 12% women and only 3% ethnic minorities and they have promised to do something about this. In addition to this, both the drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will be seen in black outfits during the race to support the black community.
