To search the World’s Best Female Driver, Ferrari & FIA has launched the ‘Girls on Track-Rising Star’ program.This program has already received a push as 20 Drivers from 5 continents has been shortlisted.
- 20 Drivers will be shortlisted to 4 at last, who will attend a week of training at Ferrari Driving Academy (FDA) in November.
- Ferrari along with Pirelli is supporting the program by Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
- ‘Girls on Track-Rising Star’ Program will target young female drivers in the age range of 12 to 16.
Trying to end the non participation of women in the Formula 1 racing events as a driver, FIA launches an initiative ‘Girls on Track-Rising star’ to encourage and find a best female driver in the world.
To support the participation of women into Formula1 racing, Ferrari has joined the initiative of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
So, the search has begun to find the ‘Best Young Female Driver’ in the world.Till date, the program has already shortlisted 20 Female drivers from the 5 continents to participate in a shoot-out to be held in Circuit Paul Ricard in October, this year.
These 20 will be filtered down to twelve to move on to the next stage.In the next stage, they will be attending Karting & Formula 4 focused training camps.These twelve will ultimately be whittled down to four.Shortlisted, final four will attend a one week course in November at Ferrari Driving Academy (FDA).
The FIA’s ‘Women in Motorsport Commission’ will work with the Ferrari to chalk out a design of long term route to assist young female racing drivers, in their bid to reach zenith of motor sport.

He further added, “The FDA has been operating for over a decade now, not just purely and simply selecting the best drivers, but also working on their cultural, technical and ethical education. With this in mind, we felt we had to make a further effort to expand our area of operation to include female youngsters who want to get on in motor sport.”
“Although there is no actual barrier to their participation, we are aware that it is harder for women to progress in this field. That’s why we have responded enthusiastically to the FIA initiative and we believe that we can help introduce even more young women to this fantastic sport”
Ferrari says that some of the most promising student in the program could join Ferrari’s Young driver batch.It plans to make two participants full time students for a period of four years.They will be allowed to participate in the National FIA Formula 4 Championships.
Meanwhile, Pirelli (Ferrari’s official tyre supplier) is also supporting the program.
